How to Make vitamin C serum at Home

Vitamin C when applied regularly is known to have many skin benefits which include anti-ageing, removal of dark spots, helps in improving the skin tone, etc. You might be skeptical of using it as they are acidic in nature and may experience a slight ‘tingle’ on your skin but really it’s nothing to worry about and will certainly prove beneficial to your skin once you start using it regularly. If you are still not convinced, you can give it just a try run for a month and see the results for yourself.

But you wouldn’t want to buy a Vitamin C serum which would cost you a minimum of $85 for a trial run, worry not there are other cheaper alternatives to get this serum too. You can make this serum at home with the help of this simple and inexpensive recipe.

Things needed to make the Vitamin C serum

  • Vitamin C powder or 2-3 vitamin c capsules
  • Distilled water
  • Glycerin/Aloe Vera gel
  • Vitamin E oil or capsule
  • A Dropper
  • A glass bottle for storage

Step 1

Take a mixing bowl and pour a measured amount of distilled water in it. You could also use rose water or some other scented water to make its scent appealing.

Step 2

Now measure some amount of Vitamin C powder or if you have Vitamin C capsules, just mix them with the distilled water. The amount of Vitamin C depends on you and how sensitive your skin is. As a precaution put half the amount of Vitamin C as that of the distilled water.

Now mix the two ingredients until the powder gets completely dissolved in the water.

Step 3

Once you have a well-dissolved mixture of vitamin c and water, time to add a few drops of glycerin to the mixture. If your skin is more on the dry side, you will need to put in a little more of glycerin. Now mix it well until it is completely blended together.

You can also use Aloe Vera gel instead of glycerin for this step. Aloe Vera gel is much smoother than Glycerin so really the choice is yours.

Step 4

Once you have added glycerin to the mixture, time to add Vitamin E oil to your concoction. Take a Vitamin E capsule and puncture it and let the oil ooze out of it into the mixture. This helps in stabilizing your mixture while providing you with the benefits of the Vitamin E oil.

Step 5

Once you have added all the mixtures, time to transfer this mixture into the glass bottle you will be using for storage purposes. Use the help of a funnel and transfer the concoction and once done, screw the bottle cap and shake the mixture vigorously for a few seconds.

Step 6

Now that you have successfully created the mixture and stored it in a small glass bottle, refrigerate it or keep it in a cool, dark place for a week or two. You will notice that with time, the color of the serum changes depending on the amount of Vitamin C that you have used.

Ready for Use

Now, you can use it every night on your skin. All you have to do it use a dropper and pour out two drops of this serum on your palm, rub it well over your face and neck. This should be done every morning and night after cleansing and toning. But make sure that you use a sunscreen or a sunblock in the morning after putting this serum as it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun.

So what are you waiting for? Go and make your own Vitamin C serum right now and reap the benefits of a smoother and clearer skin in no time.

I created this look because I got inspired of the new shoe collection from Jimmy Choo.

They use bright colors for their new collection which look so wonderful if you ask me.

I chose to bring these colors back in my lips and nails, not so expensive as the shoes!

I like to combine orange with blue and my new bag from Jimmy Choo.
The bag looks so fab with orange and the pearlised nude color is coming out more..
